Statement of Purpose

Provide education and awareness about opioid and other substance misuse and explore effective trauma-informed prevention, intervention, harm reduction, and treatment.

Learning Objectives

  • First Responders, Community Based Organizations, and Schools: Identifying how medical and behavioral health community and cross-sector partnerships in Southern Arizona are addressing the Opioid and Substance Misuse problems among youth and underserved communities.
  • Stigma Reduction: Recognizing evidence-based strategies and best practices used in Southern Arizona to reduce stigma associated with substance misuse and addiction.
  • Recovery Warriors: Highlighting using their lived experience to shape systemic change, polices, and programming around substance use disorder.
  • Evidence-based Practices: Presenting how strategies are working in the battle against Substance and Opioid misuse.
  • Making an Impact: Exploring approaches of effective strategies being used and provide support and services for people and their families impacted by substance misuse.
  • The Truth and Nothing but the Truth: Sharing the latest evidence about the effects of youth trauma and toxic stress.
  • A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships: Looking at how substance misuse policies impact our most disenfranchised communities.
